Marrone incident referred to the independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee

During the Westfield FFA Cup Final 2017 played between Sydney FC and Adelaide United on 21 November 2017, Michael Marrone was involved in an incident in and around the 115th minute and was issued with a direct red card by the Referee.

In accordance with the Westfield FFA Cup Competition Regulations, FFA has issued a disciplinary notice to Marrone for engaging in serious unsporting conduct and has referred the incident to the independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee for hearing and determination of the sole question of what sanction should be imposed above the minimum sanction (if any). The minimum sanction for serious unsporting conduct is the mandatory match suspension.

FFA will provide details of the independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee hearing in due course.

As Marrone was issued with a direct red card, Marrone must serve a match suspension of at least one match and therefore he is ineligible to play in Adelaide United’s Hyundai A-League Round 8 match against the Western Sydney Wanderers FC on Sunday, 26 November 2017.
