Sorrento through in Australia Cup after 6-0 win over Swan in WA

Four goals in 17 first-half minutes set up Sorrento FC for a comfortable passage into the Preliminary Round 7 of the Australia Cup in Western Australia.

The Gulls eventually ran out 6-0 winners over a game but outgunned Swan United to secure a last-four trip to Inglewood United.

The outstanding Clay Gibbs opened the scoring on 13 minutes, followed by a goal by Dean Cummings. It was quickly three after an own goal from Ben Parry before Gibbs teed up Hugo Snowden for the fourth. Snowden got his second 11 minutes after the break, with Joe Tweats completing the scoring late in the game.

The last preliminary quarter-final is at Frank Drago Reserve tonight when Balcatta Etna meet Floreat Athena (7pm). The winners are away to Cockburn City.
