South Melbourne tip 8000 sellout for Sydney FC FFA Cup semi-final

Excitement is building at South Melbourne with club sources tipping a sellout at Lakeside for their Westfield FFA Cup semi-final against Sydney FC on Wednesday night.

The Sky Blues will remain in the Victorian capital for the clash after defeating Melbourne Victory 1-0 in their Hyundai A-League season opener on Saturday night.

There’ll be a number of Sydney FC fans at the picturesque Lakeside as the reigning Australian champions look to make their second Cup final in as many years.

“The club is buzzing. We’re expecting a sellout with around 8000 fans at the ground for this clash,” said a club spokesperson.

“We suggest fans pre-book by going to www.smfc.com.au/tickets”.

The game will bring together four time NSL champion South Melbourne against three time A-League Champion and reigning champions Sydney FC in a huge clash at Lakeside Stadium.

And the clash also brings together two of the hottest strikers in the competition this season.

Milos Lujic has scored in every round of the Westfield FFA Cup so far this year.

Milos Lujic has scored four times on South Melbourne’s journey to the last four, finding the net in every round so far for the PS4 Victorian NPL powerhouse.

On the other side, Sydney FC’s marquee man Bobo has scored five goals, although four of those came in the Round of 32 8-0 demolition of Darwin Rovers.

The dual between the two prolific goal-scorers could go a long way to determining the winner on Wednesday night.

The home side will also need to shut-down the Sky Blues’ Polish international Adrian Mierzejewski, who has settled into Australian football impressively.

But South have their own threats, with the likes of Marcus Schroen and Nick Epifano joining 27-year-old Lujic in a fearsome attacking triumvirate.

It all adds up to what should be a thrilling Cup semi-final on Wednesday night!
